Your new job

Österängsskolan is a school with a strong forward momentum, where you, together with various professional categories and engaged colleagues, want to develop for the benefit of the students.

To increase our student base, we are looking for you who are educated or on your way to becoming a qualified F-3 teacher. As a teacher in the lower grades, you are responsible for actively planning, implementing, and following up on the teaching together with your closest colleagues. This includes creating good learning environments and collaboratively developing teaching so that more students can reach as far as possible in their learning.

We are a smaller F-6 school where the number of students is increasing - currently, we have 210 students. Here, different languages and cultures meet, and we want to utilize all students' experiences and abilities. With us, you will work alongside dedicated, experienced, and qualified colleagues both in primary school and in after-school care. Your assignment includes building good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You are part of a work team where you are expected to contribute to the overall development of the school.

We want to develop further, and based on our own results, we have identified areas for development that benefit our students and their learning and safety. In collaboration with the Swedish National Agency for Education and the Central Administration in Jönköping, we have a professional development program focusing on enhancing our teaching for higher goal fulfillment. Through collegial learning, we develop cooperative and linguistic working methods.

Our ambition is that all our work should be part of the systematic quality work to continuously and structurally improve our operations.

Welcome to us

Österängsskolan is a centrally located smaller school. Proximity to nature, sports facilities, libraries, and Birka youth center are some of our great advantages. Here, qualified teachers work in preschool, primary school, and after-school care in close collaboration with the school's special educational team, psychosocial group, and student health team. Together, we create a safe and inclusive environment where fundamental values are in focus, and where we work preventively and health-promoting for each student's best interest. We also have a social pedagogue, a school social worker, and a language pedagogue who together strengthen our work. They help build bridges between school and society, promote safety and attendance, and inspire language-developing working methods.

During our breaks, we also offer break activities to encourage play and movement. We in the school leadership strive for a close, transparent, and pedagogical leadership where we focus heavily on communication.

Your qualifications

We are looking for you who are a qualified teacher for grades F–3. You have broad subject competence, with a requirement for certification in Swedish and/or mathematics. You also have good knowledge of the primary school's mission and its governing documents and good skills in the Swedish language, both spoken and written. Additionally, you have basic IT skills and the ability to use digital tools as support in teaching.

Certification in Swedish as a second language (SvA) is an advantage. If you lack certification in SvA, there is an opportunity for further education in the area in the future.

As a person, you are stable and secure in your professional role but also curious to learn new things. You have a clear and engaging leadership style, are structured in your approach, and have good pedagogical insight. Furthermore, you have a holistic view of students' development, where you are willing to utilize students' mother tongue and culture in their learning.

Good to know

Before hiring new staff for our teaching positions, we must ensure that there is a valid teaching certification. Therefore, we ask you to attach a current teaching certification obtained from the Swedish National Agency for Education within the last two months.
